Ever since its inception nearly three years ago, the BMW X1 has continued to be the must have luxury compact SUV. Its stylish looks, roomy interior and overall performance has won it many hearts all over the world. BMW are marking another chapter in its life by launching an updated model.
|Newly styled front headlamps with|
The new characteristics begin at the classic BMW kidney grills seem to match the V shape of the curves of the bonnet. All front lines converge at the number plate mount to give it a raised front profile. The new headlights feature a chrome-coated accent strip that cuts across the top of the twin circular headlights.

They twin bi-xenon headlights are enclosed with LED light rings that function as daytime driving lights. Below the headlights are stylish round foglights that help boost its front looks. It’s raised lower black front, with functional air intakes, give it an aggressive front.
At the side its flared wheel arches give it a wide look, while the side skirts help protect the upper body from damage in uneven terrain. They newly designed side mirrors now feature direction indicators. At the back it has a restyled bumper and underguard. The rear lights now feature LEDs that make the rear visible at night. There is also a rear spoiler that helps emphasize its sporty nature.

Customers will have a wide variety X1s to choose from. The entry level, the X1 sDrive18i, which comes with a 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine. It has an output of 150hp. 0 to 100km/h takes 9.7 seconds. Its average fuel consumption is pegged at 7.7 litres per 100km. The next petrol versions are the X1 sDrive20i and the X1 xDrive20i.

The two come with a 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine with twin-scroll turbocharging that gives out 184hp. 0 to 100km/h in the in the sDrive20i takes 7.4 seconds and 7.8 seconds in the xDrive20i. Fuel consumption is 7.1 litres with the sDrive20i and 7.7 litres with the xDrive20i.

The top of the line petrol model, the xDrive28i, has an impressive output of 245bhp. 0 to 100km/h takes 6.1 seconds. It will consume 7.8 litres of fuel per 100km.
|Rear lights with LEDs|
For diesel enthusiast there are five X1 variations with four-cylinder engines on offer. The entry level, sDrive16d has an output of 116hp. Its average fuel consumption is an impressive 4.9 litres per 100km. The next two models are the sDrive18d and the xDrive18d. They come fitted with a 2.0 litre four cylinder engine that has an output of 143hp.

The sDrive18d will accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 9.6 seconds while the xDrive18d will need 9.9 to get to 100km/h. One will need 4.9 litres to cover 100km in the sDrive18d and 5.5 litres of fuel to cover 100km in the xDrive18d.

The next two versions are the sDrive20d and the xDrive20d that comes with a 2.0 litre four cylinder engine that gives out 184hp. The sDrive20d will accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.8 seconds while the xDrive20d will need 8.1 seconds to accomplish the same task.
The sDrive20d will need 4.9 litres to cover 100km while the xDrive20d will require 5.5 litres to cover the same distance. Another sDrive20d with EfficientDynamics technology comes with an engine with 163hp. 0 to 100km/h will take 8.3 seconds. It fuel efficiency is a remarkable 4.2 litres per 100km covered.

The top of the range diesel model the xDrive25d comes with 218hp. 0 to 100 takes 6.8 seconds and its fuel consumption is pegged at 5.9 litres per 100km covered. All variants come with a newly developed six-speed manual transmission system as standard.

All versions except the X1 sDrive18i, sDrive16i and sDrive20d EfficientDynamics Edition can be ordered with an eight speed or six speed automatic transmission. All xDrive versions come with an all-wheel-drive system for high levels of safety, handling and power distribution.
Dynamic Stability Control system (DSC) works with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) to ensure the best braking power and stability. Other braking functions include Brake Assist, Fading Compensation and the Brake Drying function.
Its exquisite exterior has an equally superb interior. The front dashboard has been restyled. It now features a center console angles toward the driver, an iDrive operating system and a gloss black painted panel for the climate control and radio. High-quality electroplated finish surrounds the gearshift lever and the center console cup holders.

The rear seats can be folded down flat individually or jointly to boost the rear space. The passenger compartment offers storage spaces for storage of small items. A panorama roof helps boost the interior feel. Entertainment is taken care of by on board infotainment system that comes with a CD player, AUX-IN and iPod connectivity.

A top of the range Harman Kardon Sorrund Sound System is available on order. Optional extras include the Adaptive Headlights, rain sensor wipers, Park Distance Control with a rear view mirror, Cruise Control, Comfort Access and the BMW Assist system.
