AMG are marking their 45 years in style with the launch of a new more powerful version of the SLS AMG.

Although the SLS AMG GT still has its amazing 300 SL characteristics that consist of a long bonnet, stylish side and a short rear-end with an extendable spoiler, there have been some few changes to differentiate it from a normal SLS. It has darkened headlamps, rear lights as well as red-painted brake calipers. The high gloss finish on the radiator grill, bonnet and side fins remain unchanged. However the AMG logo on the right of the boot lid now features the additional letters “GT”.

Under its long front bonnet is an AMG 6.3-litre V8 front mid-engine with an output of 591 hp, that’s 20hp more than the standard SLS. It can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds while 200km/h is dealt with in just 11.2 seconds. Married to the engine is AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7‑speed sports transmission located on the rear axle. In manual mode the transmission offers fast, precise and smooth gear changes. The system is operated from real metal shift paddles located on the AMG Performance steering wheel. A new developed AMG RIDE CONTROL performance suspension that consists of a sophisticated suspension layout with twin aluminum wishbones and variable, electronically controlled damping.

It reacts to any surface with ease. In ‘Sport’ mode, the suspension reduces the overall rolling and pitching of the suspension and hence providing excellent contact with the road when adopting a sporty driving style. In ‘Sport Plus’ the suspension provides an even higher reduction in overall rolling and damping giving the car unmatched handling capabilities. The car rides on standard 19 inch front and 20 inch rear tires fitted on the AMG forged 10-spoke light-alloy wheels. They have been painted matt black and have a high-sheen finish.

High-gloss black edging is also visible on the adjustable cross-shaped air vents and the real metal insert on the AMG Performance steering wheel.
